Today marked the run into Boxing Day with the official media launch of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2016.

Yes, we are less than one month out from the “great race”, and yet it feels like yesterday we were on the harbour for the start of last year’s race.

I took the opportunity to catch up with Paul Clitheroe, the owner/driver of ‘Balance’, the TP52 that took the overall IRC win and Tattersall’s Cup last year and also Mark “Richo” Richards, skipper of Wild Oats XI, eight time line honours winner going south for the 12th year looking to better their DNF of last year.

I was also live on Facebook for the official RSHYR launch at the Cruising Yacht Club Of Australia, hosted by Mark Beretta, an Australian TV personality.

There were some interesting insights into the revamped CQS from Sean Langman, as well as his beauty Maluka the smallest boat in the fleet, Paul Clitheroe of last year’s winner Balance, Richo from Wild Oats XI, Aaron Rowe and Beau Geste Racing as well as Don Qing, an international entry with Ark 323.

I can’t wait to be live on Boxing Day to bring you all the action!
