With only one day of racing to go the Peter Lehmann Wines Adelaide Laser Nationals at Adelaide Sailing Club has been one to remember.
With challenging light winds for the first three days and windy, wavy conditions for the next two, it’s unclear as to what the final day of racing today will bring to the table with the forecast often missing the mark on its predictions in one way or another.
These conditions are definitely not normal for Adelaide at this time of year in both the strength and direction causing local knowledge seems to be out the window for many of the Adelaide-based sailors.
Many locals have been puzzled by the shifty and puffy conditions, resulting in many of them following the interstate sailors who are more used to unpredictable breezes.

Local sailor Sean Homan, the only Great Grand Master in the Standard Fleet, has labelled the weather “shocking” in comparison to the usual Adelaide breezes at this time of year.
He said one of the positives however to come out of this regatta and the strange breezes is that it has allowed for much more even and competitive racing — this has been reflected in the results.

- 1st — Matthew Wearn (WA) — 9 points
- 2nd — Jeremy O’Connell (VIC) — 17 points
- 3rd — Mitchell Kennedy (QLD) — 28 points
Radial:
- 1st — Caelin Winchcombe (WA) — 23 points
- 2nd — Ashley Stoddart (QLD) — 26 points
- 3rd — Rhett Gowans (VIC) — 26 points
4.7:
- 1st — Jack Littlechild (NSW) — 16 points
- 2nd — Jackson Porter (WA) — 40 points
- 3rd — Boston Cortis (NSW) — 41 points
